Sure, we want to “blow our own trumpet” and tell you why YOU should stay at The Smugglers Rest, what business wouldn’t want to tell you how “GREAT WE ARE”?!
Since taking over the Smugglers Rest in early 2016 we have worked tirelessly on the renovations and giving “the olde girl” a new lease of life, while being determined to keep the same friendly, welcoming, warm & cosy feel so many people have come to love about this place.
We think our customer reviews and feedback speak for themselves, reflect our hard work and determination, and we are extremely proud to say…
So far ALL customer feedback has given The Smugglers Rest 5 star reviews!
Awesome setting and value for money
Will and Stacey are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. The B&B is centrally located in Mortehoe. It’s spacious and comfy with clean rooms. They serve an excellent breakfast and … the location is superb.
I can’t rave enough about this great venue!

Great Little B&B!
I stayed here with my mum and 7 month baby daughter and Will and Stacey could not have been any more accommodating!
Great family suite with loads of room, fantastic breakfasts and cakes cooked by Stacey.
We can not wait to visit again to see what they have done to the place, Stacey and Will’s visions for The Smugglers Rest are amazing. We wish them all the best and hope to see them soon.
Would recommend all to stay with Stacey and Will at The Smugglers Rest.

We booked over the phone and Will could not have been more helpful, we felt really welcome.
The lounge dining area is really smart, they have done a fabulous job of the re-vamp. Our bedroom was very spacious and spotlessly clean with a lovely comfy bed and a pretty little balcony.
Stacey was just as welcoming and the breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. I have to say the two of them worked like galley slaves to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.
The Smugglers is in the centre of Mortehoe with the tea shops and eating places right on the doorstep. We absolutely loved it and can’t wait to go back.

An Unexpected Welcome
The weather was letting us down, persistent rain showers, but the friendliness of Will interested us to take a seat inside and enjoy a morning coffee – made the visit to this village worthwhile
I loved the decor, the coffee was perfect and the atmosphere friendly and relaxed.
It may be a new venture so I wish them both the best of luck and a great success.

Very friendly welcome, we arrived in torrential rain and were very grateful to find they still had a room available.
We stayed in the suite at the front of the B&B, a lovely large room with a huge bathroom. We were made to feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived, the room was large and clean with lovely soaps and towels.
Breakfast was delicious, I would highly recommend this lovely place.

A fantastic gem in Mortehoe!
A fantastic gem in Mortehoe! Just returned from a great 4 night stay with my husband and 2 boys. The owners were full of local knowledge and great ideas on things to do and places to eat.
Brilliant views from the very spacious and comfortabl

Will and Stacey were very welcoming and went out of their way to accommodat

Wonderful new guesthouse in an old spot
The property has been recently renovated and the decor is now clean, fresh and airy. It is in a lovely village close to the beach and SWC path and lots of good places for and evening meal – the on-site cafe (Miss Fea’s) serves all sorts of delicious goodies during the day and a fabulous breakfast. The bed in my room was fabulous. Will and Stacey, the young couple that own and run the place were delightfully friendly and very helpful.

What a lovely place to stay!
What a lovely place to stay and a lovely couple who run it! Will and Stacey were so accommodat
ing to me and my Son Dexter. They really made us feel extra special and looked after. This place is newly decorated and has a lovely fresh, bright and airy feel. Spotless, and the towels are super soft and the beds were so comfy, we slept very well. I would highly recommend staying here. The breakfast is very delicious too, a choice of cooked, cereals, and croissants . The cakes and scones are homemade too!! A faultless B&B. Love from Terrie & Dexter x

A lovely little gem
My partner and I have just returned from a gorgeous couple of days down on the coast. Stacey and Will made us feel very comfortable in their guest house. They couldn’t be more welcoming. We arrived on Friday and before taking a trip into the village for dinner we enjoyed a drink downstairs, in Miss Fea’s cafe. A great setting with lots of gins and delicious locally sourced nibbles- a must try!
The room was light and airy, with a very comfortable bed and the breakfast was yummy. All in all, more than a perfect retreat after a day walking and enjoying the local coast. We will definitely recommend to friends and hope to return soon (if we don’t buy a transporter before!)
Thank you guys:)

Homely, friendly and great location
Just came back from 3 nights in this amazing B&B. Recntly refurbished, we had a brand new and brilliantly decorated room that was super comfortable and spacious.
Will and Stacey are amazing hosts, very friendly, knowledgeable about the surrounding area, seem to be able to pull strings with the local restaurants for last minute bookings, make a mean breakfast, delicious cakes, and gorgeous gins (over 40 to choose from).
100% recommend. We’ll be back again soon.

Just back from 4 nights staying in the Hartland Suite and it’s safe to say we’ve found a new favourite place to stay in North Devon. Will and Stacey are fantastic hosts, knowledgeable and friendly. Stacey’s breakfasts are a great way to start the day… Delicious! The bed was lovely and comfortable, the room was gorgeous and soooo much space, even with a 2 year old. Our room had an amazing freestanding bath and an awesome shower too! The whole place has been beautifully decorated! Highly recommend The Smugglers Rest! Will and Stacey you are so lucky to live in such a beautiful house and area! We will be back… Just hope you aren’t fully booked so we can get a room!!!

Handy for coastal path walking – a real find!!
This was an old pub , now a lovely family run cafe and B&B (8 rooms)The cafe has a modern , cheery vibe and serves homemade cakes and scones and lovely coffee!.Will is an engaging host on all fronts.
Our room (Exmore) was bright ,and well kitted out, with a bay window looking over the fields and up the hill. The bathroom had a super huge shower and a heated towel rail with lovely white towels. The room was very spacious with an extra bed settee and space saving “hanging”bedside tables!.There were tea/coffee making facilities + homade biscuits!.The bed was extra comfy , and the lined curtains full and luxurious, with strong tie backs. The feel of the room was welcoming, bright, and very clean!- one felt that everything in it had been well thought out.
I would really recommend this B&B-i can’t wait to go back!
